Braids Protective Style

Hey there,

GRWM to work
Yes protective styling, I am using that term because it is used everywhere with people who have hair like mine which is called 4C.
So yeah I have decided to get braids done for the winter, because I am lazy and it is ideal to protect my hair in this harsh weather.

The Installation:
I was looking for someone to do my hair for a long while and when I found this lady I was very skeptical because I can do my own hair but since I was lazy I had to trust her to do the right thing. I told her I am a very difficult person and have a sensitive scalp.
She took 5.5 hrs and we used 7 packs of Frika Braid Hot Fibre 1B Rich Black(Clicks R27.75) I bought them on special 3 for 2.
She does not grip too hard and it was not sore, only one braid has come off from the back after a week.

The Fibre:
The hair is very light after 7 packs of it on my head, I can not feel it at all, I am not sure whether it is the way she installed it or what but I am loving it!
After it gets dipped into hot water it becomes soft and flowy, does not have that stiffness of the just got braided look.
One thing I am not happy about it is the way it made my scalp itch for a week long, it was terrible. Apparently the hair has some chemicals on it to preserve it so when you about to install it you have to wash it first and I did not, my scalp took the heat a week long, no spray helped. Next time I will be prepared though!

The Maintenance:
Easy and light to tie back
I spray my roots with water day and night, at night I apply oil(olive oil) on my scalp, then apply castor oil on my edges.
I also spray along the shaft of my hair on the braids with water to keep it moisturised.
I do an A.C.V (Apple Cider Vinegar) rinse once a week( I have done it once), pat my scalp dry and then spray with water. I do this at night and in the morning I spray with water again then apply oil to mask the smell that is left.
I plan on including onion juice in my regimen, spray it every odd night.

Tips:
To wash the fibre before using it, your roots will look fresh for longer because you wont be itching so much.
Keep your scalp clean and moisturised.
I put a bit of serum on the fibre to give it some luster and shine.
Mostly just enjoy the break you are getting, and have fun.

Thank you for reading, until next post God bless...
